Background

• Independent Record Magazine calls Kevin Kavanaugh a "legendary underground guitarist". His work has been compared to luminaries of the genre such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Jeff Beck.

• Born in West Virginia and raised in Appalachia, Kevin grew up around musicians like famed blues visionary Roy Buchanan and rock/psychobilly pioneer Hasil Adkins. They often played at the infamous Lou & Jenks Roadhouse which was owned by his parents.

• Moving to Europe in the early 1980’s, Kevin had the opportunity to play with some of the premier NWOBHM bands. A club and studio favorite, he strongly influenced the sound of some of Britain and Germany’s more popular heavy metal bands.

• After returning from Europe in the early 1990’s, Kevin’s musical direction turned to the blues roots he developed as a child. Living in NYC, he found an outlet in a wide variety of clubs from the popular Manny’s Car Wash to some really questionable joints uptown…

• The new chapter in Kevin’s career began with a move to Phoenix, Arizona in 1995. In what he calls the "Crazy From The Heat" era, he began experimenting with his signature genre-bending combination of rock, blues and jazz. While with ground-breaking bands such as The Stereo-Types and Patient Zero, the seeds were sown for the development of his signature sound.

• Like his early heroes, Kevin literally attacks the guitar, squeezing out every soulful moan and pained scream the instrument can produce. After one listen, you will forever be able to identify his music. You just won’t be able to categorize it…

• The newest solo release from Kevin is entitled Bottle Rocket. Without the aid of a record label or distribution deal, the recording has sold over 5000 copies worldwide in it's first 4 months.

• Seeking a new management and promotion company, Kevin hopes he and a band of the usual suspects will make the rounds of festivals and large multi-act bills throughout the US and Canada.
